The Grid

The Grid is an interactive project that revisits the nostalgic childhood practice of using grids for drawing and coloring, where small sections combine to form a larger picture. Rooted in the tactile and repetitive actions of screen printing, the project transforms this familiar concept into a participatory mural-making experience.

Preliminary few motifs are screen-printed directly onto the wall, establishing the foundation of the composition. Visitors are invited to engage with the work by arranging and layering additional motifs provided to them. Each participant approaches the mural with their unique interpretation, placing the motifs according to their personal perspective. By combining the mechanical precision of screen printing with the organic spontaneity of human interaction, The Grid explores the collaborative potential of printmaking. It transforms the traditional role of the medium into that of a facilitator, inviting viewers to channel their inner child and engage in the act of co-creation. The project underscores the power of collective participation in art-making, while evoking the playful, imaginative spirit of grid-based art from childhood.
